Drug Class Description :

Loop diuretics / potassium supplements (K + supplements).

Generic Name :

Frusemide, potassium chloride

Drug description :

White/orange f-c tablets marked DK.

Presentation :

Tablets, frusemide 40mg, sustained-release potassium chloride 600mg.

Indications :

Oedema including that associated with congestive heart failure, renal and hepatic disorders, where a potassium supplement is required. required.

Adult Dosage :

1 daily in the morning.

Child Dosage :

Not applicable.

Contra Indications :

Precomatose states associated with liver cirrhosis. Hyperkalaemia. Addison's disease.

Special Precautions :

Hepatic or renal impairment. Diabetes. Prostatic hypertrophy. Impaired micturition. Pregnancy. Lactation. Gout.

Interactions :

K+-sparing diuretics, lithium, digitalis, aminoglycosides, NSAIDs, cephalosporins, antihypertensives.

Adverse Reactions :

Gout. Discontinue if any symptoms of ulceration or obstruction of small bowel occur.
