Drug Class Description :

Thiazide-related diuretics (thiazides) / K+-sparing diuretics (potassium-sparing diuretics).

Generic Name :

Chlortalidone [chlorthalidone], triamterene [co-triamterzide]

Drug description :

Orange f-c tablets marked A one side, scored on reverse.

Presentation :

Tablets, chlortalidone 50mg, triamterene 50mg.

Indications :

Mild to moderate hypertension. Oedema.

Adult Dosage :

Hypertension: 1 every morning, increasing to 2 once daily if necessary.

Oedema: 1 every morning increasing to 2 once daily if condition persists after 7 days.

Contra Indications :

Anuria, progressive or severe renal failure. Hyperkalaemia.

Special Precautions :

Diabetes; acidosis. Gout. Renal or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy, lactation.

Interactions :

K+ supplements, K+-sparing diuretics, lithium, digitalis, antihypertensives, ACE inhibitors.

Adverse Reactions :

Rash, photosensitivity, blood dyscrasias, gout, cramps.
