MICTRAL
Drug Class Description :

Quinolones / alkalising agents.

Generic Name :

Nalidixic acid, sodium citrate, anhydrous citric acid, sodium bicarbonate

Drug description :

Granules in sachet.

Presentation :

Granules, nalidixic acid 660 mg , sodium citrate, anhydrous citric acid, sodium bicarbonate (equivalent to 4.1 g citrate).

Indications :

Cystitis and lower urinary tract infections.

Adult Dosage :

1 dissolved in water three times daily for three days.

Child Dosage :

Not recommended.

Contra Indications :

History of convulsive disorders, porphyria, renal impairment. Pregnancy, lactation.

Special Precautions :

Liver disease, G-6-PD deficiency, severe cerebral arteriosclerosis. Avoid sunlight. Monitor blood count, renal and liver function after 2 weeks treatment.

Interactions :

Anticoagulants, antibacterials, melphalan, probenecid, cyclosporin.

Adverse Reactions :

CNS effects, visual disturbances, seizures, GI effects, allergic reactions. Rarely, haemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, cholestatis, paraesthesia, acidosis.
