Drug Class Description :

H2 -antagonists (H2 -receptor antagonists / H 2 -blockers).

Generic Name :

Nizatidine

Drug description :

Pale/dark yellow capsules marked ab and N150; 300 mg yellow/brown capsules marked ab and N300.

Presentation :

Capsules, nizatidine 150mg , 300mg .

Indications :

Duodenal and benign gastric ulcers including those associated with NSAIDs. Prevention of duodenal and benign gastric ulcer recurrence. Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.

Adult Dosage :

Gastric and duodenal ulcers: 300 mg in evening for four or, if necessary, eight weeks. Alternatively, 150 mg morning and evening. Prophylaxis, 150 mg in evening. Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease: 150 - 300 mg twice daily for up to 12 weeks.

Child Dosage :

Not recommended.

Special Precautions :

Impaired renal or hepatic function. Pregnancy, lactation.

Interactions :

Salicylates.

Adverse Reactions :

Anaemia, sweating, urticaria, raised liver enzymes, hepatitis, jaundice, somnolence.
