KINIDIN DURULES
Drug Class Description :

Class I antiarrhythmics (anti- arrhythmics).

Generic Name :

Quinidine

Drug description :

250 mg white sustained-release tablets.

Presentation :

Tablets, quinidine bisulphate 250mg .

Indications :

Maintenance of sinus rhythm following cardioversion of atrial fibrillation. Suppression of supraventricular and ventricular tachyarrhythmias. tachyarrhythmias.

Adult Dosage :

1 initially then 2 - 5 twice daily.

Child Dosage :

Not recommended.

Contra Indications :

Uncompensated cardiac failure, Incomplete AV block, digitalis toxicity, myocarditis, severe myocardial damage. Myasthenia gravis, history of quinidine induced thrombocytopenia or complete heart block. Pregnancy.

Special Precautions :

Monitor patient after first dose for hypersensitivity reactions. Prolonged AV conduction, sustained cardiac decompensation, cardiogenic shock, hypotension, bradycardia, hypokalaemia, oesophageal obstruction.

Interactions :

Digoxin, digitoxin,coumarin derivatives cimetidine, rifampicin, barbiturates, phenytoin, verapamil, amiodarone, nifedipine, desipramine, imipramine, procainamide, metoprolol.

Adverse Reactions :

GI upset, arrhythmias, hypotension, bradycardia, cinchonism, hypersensitivity reactions.
