IMAZIN XL
Drug Class Description :

Nitrates/antiplatelets (antiplatelet agents, salicylates).

Generic Name :

Isosorbide mononitrate, aspirin

Drug description :

Imazin XL: white tablets marked LD. Imazin XL Forte: white tablets marked HD.

Presentation :

Imazin XL, Isosorbide mononitrate 60mg in sustained release form, aspirin 75mg. Imazin XL Forte, Isosorbide mononitrate 60mg in sustained release form, aspirin 150mg.

Indications :

Prophylaxis of angina and prevention of secondary MI.

Adult Dosage :

Imazin XL: One or two tablets to be taken in the morning. Imazin XL Forte: One to be taken in the morning.

Child Dosage :

Not recommended.

Contra Indications :

Severe cerebrovascular insufficiency, cerebral haemorrhage, hypotension, hypovolaemia, head injury, marked anaemia, acute MI with low left ventricular filling pressure, ventricular filling pressure, peptic ulceration, bleeding disorders, aspirin / anti- inflammatory induced allergies.

Special Precautions :

Renal or hepatic insufficiency, glaucoma, hypothyroidism, malnutrition, hypothermia, G-6-PD deficiency. Pregnancy and lactation.

Interactions :

Anticoagulants, oral hypoglycaemics, phenytoin, sodium valproate, metoclopramide, methotrexate, sulphonamides, corticosteroids, NSAIDs, probenacid, antihypertensives, diuretics.

Adverse Reactions :

Hypotension, headaches, flushing.
