Drug Class Description :

Vaccines (inactivated surface antigens).

Generic Name :

Meningitis A and C vaccine

Drug description :

Powder plus diluent.

Presentation :

Powder for injection, meningitis A and C vaccine containing 50 micrograms each of group A and C polysaccharide antigens of Neisseria meningitidis.

Indications :

Active immunisation against Types A and C meningitis.

Adult Dosage :

0.5 mL by deep subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

Child Dosage :

Over two months, 0.5 mL by deep subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

Contra Indications :

  • Hypersensivity to components
  • Febrile conditions.

Special Precautions :

  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation.

Interactions :

Immunosuppressants.

Adverse Reactions :

  • Low grade fever
  • Pain at injection site.
