Drug Class Description :

Selective b2 -agonists (beta- agonists, beta-adrenoceptor stimulants).

Generic Name :

Salbutamol

Drug description :

Airomir Inhaler: CFC-free metered dose aerosol. Airomir Autohaler: CFC-free breath actuated metered dose inhaler.

Presentation :

Airomir Inhaler: salbutamol (as sulphate) 100 micrograms per dose. Airomir Autohaler: salbutamol (as sulphate) 100 micrograms per dose .

Indications :

Bronchospasm in bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema. Prophylaxis of exercise-induced asthma.

Adult Dosage :

Acute attack, 1 or 2 puffs; prophylaxis, 2 puffs before exercise. Maximum 8 puffs in 24 hours.

Child Dosage :

Acute attack, 1 or 2 puffs; prophylaxis, 1 or 2 puffs before prophylaxis, 1 or 2 puffs before exercise. Maximum 8 puffs in 24 hours.

Special Precautions :

Hyperthyroidism. Myocardial insufficiency, angina, cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension. Pregnancy.

Interactions :

Sympathomimetics, b-blockers.

Adverse Reactions :

Fine tremor, headache, peripheral vasodilatation, hypokalaemia.
