PROTOPIC is a topical ointment, containing 0.03% or 0.1% tacrolimus, licensed for both short-term treatment of acute flares and for the long-term control of underlying inflammation in non-lesional skin to prevent flares and prolong flare-free periods. PROTOPIC is used as a second-line treatment option for individuals not responsive to topical corticosteroids or in people for whom steroid therapies are not appropriate. PROTOPIC is indicated for short-term treatment and long-term control of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in both adults (PROTOPIC 0.1% and 0.03%) and children aged 2 years and older (PROTOPIC 0.03%). Unlike potent topical corticosteroids, PROTOPIC can also be used on sensitive regions of the body.
