Treatment

Summary

There are a variety of options, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, available for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. The recent approval of PROTOPIC® as a twice-weekly maintenance therapy to control flares and to prolong flare-free periods represents an important step forward in the way in which atopic dermatitis is managed. The large volume of clinical trial data supporting the efficacy and tolerability of PROTOPIC®, used either as a reactive therapy to control flares, or as a preventative measure to stop flares recurring, demonstrates that this is a valuable treatment option for controlling atopic dermatitis.
