Risk Factors

Prostatectomy

Prostatectomy even when performed with a nerve sparing technique can lead in up to 70% of the patients to at least temporary ED. This is due to the nerve trauma in the small pelvis. While some experts suggested a daily treatment with a PDE5 inhibitor as some form of penile rehabilitation to improve the recovery from post-prostatectomy ED1 there is a recently published study showing that on-demand dosage is sufficient to restore erections in these patient group.2
